it could be a good metric to determine if one was elitist or not.....given the tournament you chose, masters was the most elitist, and lynx the least elitist clan. Lets see, who are those players from lynx that are the least elitist........... ohhh its 90 himself. Well then its likely just his arbitrary personal ideas about what is proper conduct and not a good objective criteria

I was being very serious. I do not troll. If you have a better metric, feel free to share it. If you want a comprehensive metric you probably need to take many factors into account, but that is hand-waving. There is a tradeoff between being easily computable and being precise in characterizing eliteness, and my metric certainly leans on the easy-computability side.. However, I do believe that it is quite precise. For example, if mod greets his opponents as he claims, then he isnt elitist.. You can't actually be serious, can you? First off, not greeting someone in a game isn't elitist at all. I never greet people in my games unless i know them. Whether they are good or bad players. You can force your standard onto others, but it'll never say something objective, since there's no connection between elitism and greeting. Your metric is in no way 'quite precise'. Second of all, you try to make it 'scientific' by showing data. If we were to assume that you actually used a decent metric, you just take a single tournament; a tournament you were in, coincidentally. Now, according to your standard, you should always greet someone, so you know the results will favor you. Therefore the one tournament sample you pick is also a cherrypicked one.

@90 I can't comprehend how you are trying to design a metric and discuss it in a scientific way on a concept, which is so utterly baseless to assume a person's Elitism. It's simply wrong as explained above ^.

"Are you one?"
Actually after further thought I am not an elitist because I greet most players I play with regardless of their status.
What I am though is a player who wants to win games, so naturally I am annoyed when my partners don't try to make that possible.

My opinion on the idea of Elitism,
Firstly, let's define it.
elitism noun 1. the belief that a society or system should be led by an elite. "local government in the nineteenth century was the very essence of elitism" 2. the dominance of a society or system by an elite. 3. the superior attitude or behavior associated with an elite. "he accused her of racism and white elitism"
According to Google ^
Secondly, let's look at how the game is developed. There are ladders, it's a strategic game. There is an inheritance from the game to become the best on a strategic sense. This way, you can claim every WZ player has an inheritance of being a little elitist. You can see this on ladders, the way the clans are ranked by points the way there are coin leaderboards, almost everything is a competition with every game with a winner or loser. So if we look at the game's concrete fundamentals their is an element of elitism lurking there.
Thirdly, how does this element of elitism translate to the community forums? All the community events are led by players who have no elitist vibe about them, players who want to give back to the community. Ekstone , almosttricky plenty more examples, yes okay they are not weak players but really the events are run by people who simply want to give back to the game and not have this "elitism" attitude about them in a condescending way. Everyone can have a point to say on the forums and we're looking like a community to increase activity not keep it exclusive to a select people. The community isn't elitist in my opinion.
Fourthly, the clan world is where we have Clan League, this is also competition which kickstarts the elitism vibe. Now you could have the argument that a few Clan League's ago, it was elitist with very high skilled players in high skilled clans in division A where a newbie has no chance to enter. Now we look at Clan League 10, We have Masters who have Apprentices that newbies can enter, Lynx has 101st as a entry point for newbies, ONE! and Outlaws who are very welcoming for clans that are apparently the 3rd/4th best in the game, have very lenient entry requirements. M'Hunters who are 5th will welcome anyone and everyone. GG who are elitist even tried branching out with GGr. Clans are looking to recruit and increase activity, not hoard and keep to themselves. Most top players from these clans will take time from their day to help.
Yes, there is an elitism vibe in the game because that's how the game is designed, however, if you look at how the community is and how clans are operated. There really isn't a strong elitism vibe as you would expect from the players that operate in it. So as a conclusion, yes there is Elitism in the form of competition but in terms of the community, elitism is virtually non-existent.

Its easy to waffle (imprecise thoughts and opinions without a structured thoughtprocess) and try to poke holes, harder to come up with a metric of your own..
Its easier to perform a coup, harder to rebuilt from the ashes..
This is a reminder for me why I leave this shithole community called warlight.

https://gyazo.com/b20b078fd6f72a08ad4bc5448443a738It's simply hypocritical that someone is trying to create a metric for elitism yet has no problem using intelligence as a way of superiority in an argument. That being said, you were an overall nice person and I wish you a safe future.

i think elitism is a real thing, usually fostered by clans. if a clan is stronger, people will want to join it, to be with the rest of the "elites"
a.k.a. elitism
hmmm, idk if that is elitism, but if you consider in that direction,
1) players trying to leave template voting to Div.A clans only for CL in past or Div. A and B clans only for CL9 and 10 or 2) ethics panel member voting (wanting A/B clans only to vote) or 3) moderator revealing a report to a player (misuse of moderator powers),(just?) because he is an "elite" player or 4) no gg(is still fine) or flaming(not at all good) at low elo players or players from "not so elite" clans after a loss. (This happens with many casual players too, but I mention it specially because for some players, those few words spoil the mood of well-earned victory.) 5) players trying to invite players from other clans to join their own clan (or associated clan) saying "Being in this clan is prestigious" or "Join the elites" ....
as an indication of elitism, then it exists.
Community is welcoming to new players (when I joined then and when I see new players now).
I'm an elitist because I can't stand playing with atrocious partners
No. You've played with me many times ;)
Don't involve MH in this crap. MasterHunters is a bullying clan but not elitist.
hmmmm, in what way it is a bullying clan?
Actually after further thought I am not an elitist because I greet most players I play with regardless of their status.
You always greet me with " You're a noob. You can't win this game" on my alts.
Now we look at Clan League 10, We have Masters who have Apprentices that newbies can enter, Lynx has 101st as a entry point for newbies, ONE! and Outlaws who are very welcoming for clans that are apparently the 3rd/4th best in the game, have very lenient entry requirements. hmmmm, any special reason for leaving VS :P

just an fyi i love the community here and everything i've learned is through the help directly from the community! also there are tons of community events. the community here is very hardcore and supportive and has helped build an amazing environment (elitism cant really be avoided nor should it be punished its rather natural)
