Don't confuse the mean and the rating.
Rating = Mean - 3*Standard Deviation, that explains all.Aren't we supposed to start with a rating of 1500? http://warlight.net/LadderTeam?LadderTeamID=4312 I won one game and it shows I've gone down to 1403 how does that work?
Your mean starts now at 2000 (see Fizzer's post, 2nd post on this page), your standard deviation at 500 and your rating at 500 (2000-3*500). Both your mean and rating increased after your win (the standard deviation mostly decreases after the first 100 or so games).
Also some players still seem to be starting with a rating of 0. (unless the ones with 1500 are wrong now?)
Which ones, I don't see any?
Yeah, i went 2-1 today and am a 1300 rating. Not sure how that works
Your mean is 2169.94 (higher than the start of 2000) and the standard deviation 230.81. Consequently, your rating equals 1478 (2169.94 - 3*230.81 and rounded). Both are higher than the starts (2000 for the mean, 500 for the rating)
