The Clan Belt
4v4

The Idea for this is simple and based on the boxing belts they win after a fight.

One clan will hold the belt and all bragging rights that go with it

Other clans will take it in turns to challenge the Belt holders to a match. If they win they will become the new belt holders

Any clan wishing to challenge for the belt must say so on this thread and you will be placed on the list.

When it’s your turn you will be invited to a game by the belt holders where you will give the names and profiles of your other 3 members you wish the holders to invite.

Just like the boxing this is an ongoing “tournament” and will never finish (unless of course the interest for it dies)

For your Clan to gain true legendary status you would need to be unbeaten in 10 battles and then retire unbeaten passing on the title to the winner of the next two clans on the list

For the start I will control the forum thread to get it going but the idea is for the Belt holder to control it so we aren’t reliant on me being here

The only real rules are as follows

After a match is finished it’s the new/reigning Belt Holders responsibility to post the result and game link here on this forum thread so we all know what’s going on

The Belt holder must invite the next person on the list

The Belt holder must keep the list up to date

The Belt holder may choose the map and settings. Only restriction is that it must be 4v4 and the map must have more than 16 bonuses (no dual trual type maps please)

Boot times- must be 5 day auto boot no holidays- so clans need to play with members not going away in the near future

Only players with the clan tag in their name can enter. No drafting in players just to play. Players need to be dedicated enough to your clan to show it in their name

It is also strongly encouraged for the Reigning Belt holder to mix up their team members for each battle. Changing at least 2 out of the 4 is recommended unless of course you only have 4 members in total. Clans that have more than 4 members but don’t change around their teams will be frowned upon by other clans

To kick things off {rp} will challenge for the belt with which ever clan shows interest first

To keep the first battle fair it will be on medium earth no cards

If you and your clan are interested just post here with something along the lines of “add me to the list please”

Very interesting idea, but wouldn't it be more stable for the challenge for the belt to be best out of 3 matches? It might be subjective, but to me 1 match only seems to be well influenced by normal chance..

yes its subjective, since team challenges are balanced in itself

There's no point in my making a page on something that failed

but this seems good, and im sure it will work

no i definitely think it needs to be 1 match. 3 would take to long if the list gets big and i dont want people to have to commit to 3 matches at once.

once you lose the belt theirs nothing to stop clans adding themselves back to the bottom of the list again

also by leaving it at 1 match there is more chance of the underdog winning which adds the excitement of the clan belt lol

Why not allow one!! coalition of non clan players to play for the belt?

In case they win, it would be mighty interesting which clan is able to take it away from them again.

sorry myhandisonfire this is specifically for clans however if this goes well and people get the idea of the belt holder runs the thread then i will create more belt style tournaments

i got the idea from another turn based game i used to play where Belts were as popular as tournaments. however on that game people where able to put signitures on their posts so thats where the belts were showed off

as much as myhand is just attention seeking/being a dick, i dont see why this should be exclusive to clan members. can't it be open to anyone? or you can have a clan-only one as well as a general one?

1. i have been trying to get an interclan thing going without much success so thought id try this

2. As i said i will start more belt style tournaments if this kicks off. i really just want to make sure it will work on Warlight first. There is no point starting 2 or More and seing them all fail

It could be a great thing if the belt will be popular but i fear that will be just a troll target...
Anyway if it won't I think that a 4v4 is not a great way to defend or conquer the belt..
Often 4v4 are not balanced games and I don't like the idea of making every time different settings..
It would be much better making a 1v1, a 2v2 and a 3v3.
They are more balanced and played templates...
1v1 and 2v2 ladder settings.. 3v3 europe 4 manual random warlords.

Sounds like a fun idea, Mac! I agree with the differing settings, playing the same old ladder or europe gets boring.

Maybe a 3v3 would be better, but I guess 4v4 is more suited to clanishnesh.

don't see the point in a 1v1 or 2v2 one, there is already the 3 ladders and 2 promotion/relegation leagues for those.

Since this a clan only thing I don't see the problem in making the most classic settings...
I think that the quality of a team must be taken in consideration adn those are the game where skills usually come out...
If we want to do an unusual thin why don't make a 7v7 game instead of a 4v4?
At least with the 7v7 more players can play and it would be better for a clan war..

Oh, another thing I wanted to say..
Why dont make this belt a real time challenge? (This can be done only with one game and not with 3 as I proposed before)
A multi day game could last for more than one month with a 5 days timer..
So long waitings will make this belt just a very hard to remember thing and its popularity will fall...
We should arrange a fixed schedule and the game will be played once a week...
There are more than 10 teams so from a challenge to another could pass more than a year, making this thing ridiculous..
While I can agree with you if you dont like my previous idea I think that if you dont make it real time this wont lead to anything..

I think we are 2nd in line behind the Warlighters. It was painful to sift through all the nonsense posts ;), but I think I got the list right below.

Belt List:

2) Warlighters
3) [REGL]

While I appreciate the ideas (and believe me I do) The clan belt I want to go with is as above in the first post.

Yes once the list gets long it will take a while to get to you but that’s fine. Just put your name down and forget about it until its your turn. Please don’t think there will be anything fast about belt games . RT games just isn’t an option with team games.

1v1 2v2 and 3v3 on maps we all played a million times before isn’t want I want to do. There are loads of other tournaments with these settings and we don’t want all tournaments them all to be the same. Well i certainly don’t.

Im pretty sure this will work out and then once its running we can discuss alternative belts such as "the strategic ladder belt" for all those that love those settings ;-)
