I like General. The few game I've had with him/her have been good ones. You shouldn't disparage people.

I would normally agree with CuChulainn. However one player (Denominator) really got my goad a while back and I'm still kinda frustrated with him. Let me explain:

I was new to WL and in a 6 player game on the Earth map. Denominator got in touch with me on a PM saying that he wanted an alliance on that and one other game we were together on. I agreed to the alliance in both games and we formulated a strategy against the other players. A few turns later, he started acting pissed at me for not pulling ALL my armies away from his, even though he had HUGE numbers against my borders. He gave me all this crap about how he wouldn't trust me unless I moved my armies away from his and I eventually gave in and moved away from him. In the other game, we both got beat down by another player pretty much at the same time. He said I did that on purpose and used that as an excuse to attack me with those HUGE numbers he refused to move. To make this quicker, he dominated me because I trusted him to uphold his end of the bargain.

I later got into a game he showed up in and found out that he was doing that same thing to every player that was anywhere near his armies! I have tried not to get into any other games with that player but I'm sure his cheating ways will continue.

So, to sum up: Denominator is the Biggest Douche Player of 2010. Congrats, asshole!

He did the same thing to me. We agreed that he'd give me France and he actually reenforced the area. The he attacked me and acted like he didn't. He's one of the reasons I made the other thread.

Yeah. That was what I didn't understand about the Douche. He continuously told me I was making stuff up and denied he ever did anything that he did. According to him, the "psychological aspect" of the game is a normal thing. I don't know how that applies to this game, but he thinks what he's doing to people is a psychological strategy and not cheating.

We should send him a big douche trophy.

Denominator is Private Parts, right? That's actually who I meant, but I think they're the same person.

For me personally, if we have a truce, we have a true. I'm not going to attack you. I expect the same from other people. Unfortunately because of one event some people don't like me; but that's their deal. I think most of the people I play with will tell you that I honor my agreements and that, most of the time, I won't boot right away. I only do when it becomes a problem.

Are you serious? Is Denominator and Private Parts the same player? I can't believe there are so many ghost accounts on this site. Isn't there any way for the creators to weed that crap out? I try not to take this game too seriously, but outright cheating is just a pain in the ass.

In this case I have to disagree with you. While psychological warfare isn't at all my style, I think it's a totally legitimate tactic. However, it's one of those tactics that can only work once.

You will never again have a truce with the player, and that was what the tactic cost him/her.

It's an entirely pointless move but it IS a move.

The ability to boot players, I suggest, is an above board 'right' we have as players and should not be abused. There could be any number of reasons why another player has gone over the set time but I always try to get their attention first. Sometimes I forget to hit commit, and that would really suck to get booted while under the impression you were waiting on someone else.

On the other hand there is the player who joins a fast game then forgets about it. I felt so bad about doing that, and totally deserved the bootin' I got.

So, I think, the betrayal of a truce should not be considered for a douchbaggery award but instead, any player's tactics or habits might be made public.

I'll have to agree that in my encounters with him, General seems like an OK guy. The only complaints I've seen about him are that he takes a while sometimes. But, honestly, if I'm not at work, I might not be checking games much either. (That changed for a bit, but that's another story.) It can get frustrating when someone takes forever; but real life is more important.

Just to confirm: Private Parts is Denominator(now General). They are one in the same.

He gave me one of the worst experiences on Warlight, in several different games. It's good that people are aware enough to avoid him, now.

He was one of the main people I was talking about taking the game WAY too seriously. I beat him in a game and he went ballistic on the other player because he didn't feel the other player attacked me enough. The other player and I were sending PM's back and forth like "Is this guy serious? It's just a game."

Whoever this guy is (General, Denominator, whatever), he honestly thinks that doing crap like that is "psychological strategy". The guy's a dick. When I fell for it, it cost me 2 wins. At least he didn't win either of the games.

I'll never understand why people will cheat to win at a simple internet game. It's not like we get prizes for doing well. It's just for fun.

My new solution is going to be to continuously call the cheaters out in every game I get into with them. Hopefully, I won't have to do this too often. If enough of us call out these pricks in every game they get into, I imagine it should take away the fun for them. Hopefully, they'll just go away. That'd be awesome.

I agree joboo, I try not to join games with him in it but it has happened that he joins after me and we end up playing together, so when and if this happens again I think I will implement you strategy for dealing with this prick. Rom: Ive seen him do that to players in games before also. He would get furious if someone didnt do what he thought was best for him in random nonteam large games....quite funny and sad.

Yes, some people are righteous pricks about being boot time nazis. Yes, it's a personal decision. But, when you are getting your ass handed to you in a good well-fought game in a tournament that has been going on for months, and you wait at the keyboard until midnight in order to boot someone within 2 minutes of them becoming bootable on a 3 day boot time, on the weekend? That's douchebaggery, pure and simple. You're a chump, Tahlmorra. I hope you have a seriously bad year.

haha wow, maybe if it was 3 days during the week but the weekend should be given a little more of a buffer....compounded by the fact that he waited up to boot and that he was getting himself served, I will have to completely agree....its a douchebag spotting

Bending Unit have a strategy - he let's you wait for him, then move and boot you when you aren't here.
This game is a excellent example of total doucheness...

I propose to make a blacklist of douches.
