yeah, awful pick against any decent player. australia is completely redundant. you shouldn't expect to get both s america and antarctica if your opponent knows what they are doing. you only make 5 picks. south america should be #1 not #2. central america is useless without south america. you leave russia unpicked.
and you should attack colombia with 3 on the first turn.
you only won because your opponent tried to take all 3 bonuses at once.
pulling out 3 pickers is definetely very hard. You need to first realize what are the gambles you are making and how you can be screwed.
BUT, if done correctly, it can put you with great initial income AND (you should always look for one triple picking) SAFETY. A well planned triple pick will mean that your opponent will only threat the maximum of 2 borders at a time, leaving him to have to win either with a similar strategy, bigger medium game income or better fighting.
I wasnt doing so much until 2 months ago, when building safety in picks were getting more specialty of mine. And definetely can work wonders, but you really really need to make the correct moves and not waste the armies you gain in useless positions.
This week i did win like 5 games with triple picking and lost one. The game i lost the guy was really smart giving up the position and changing venues, i had a proper position until the point he double threated me correctly.
And one more thing, its rare to see i making triple pick to one combo, most of the time the 3rd pick build side safety and can be helped with the original bonus left overs. So its not a combo pick as it is side safety.
Sorry to post again, this games i won this week made me want to post.
I know that feel, ps. But that's not really a triple pick, since north africa and the other two starts don't combine at all. It's a double pick and a shitty fourth pick.
