Where is that alt/noob who knows piped up earlier to explain better for me.
She was at home and then sleeping :P (and I'm not an alt, FWIW... I somewhat object to being called a noob just because I'm a low level, but, meh, whatever)
From the Mafiascum wiki, which is one of the main sites people seem to go to for basic rules/role explanations/etc.
Each games... has its own set of rules determined by the moderator. Generally, different games have similar rules. (The exceptions being games with more intricate game mechanics.)
- During the day, everyone can post whatever accusations they like.
- No players may talk outside of the game thread during the day phase.
- Mafia members, masons, cult members, and some other groups may be able to talk outside the thread during the night phase.
- Voting is generally done in some specific format (such as Vote: SomePlayer) to make it easier for the Moderator to keep count.
- In most games, once someone reaches a majority that player is lynched and the moderator reveals that player's role.
The above rules, I would basically say are *always* in effect
unless you are told otherwise by the mod (generally in a case where those "more intricate game mechanics" they mention are in effect. Those more intricate game mechanics could involve, amongst others, specific power roles that have the ability to speak privately with others during the day.
I could start a meta-thread to discuss/hash out/yell at each other about/throw tomatoes at each other over the creation of a general ruleset for Mafia/Wolves here on this board, if folks want.
Silver, as Dom has decided to allow it, yes, loophole away. I don't particularly like it, as it really is kind of gamebreaking. The point is that only the wolves know who to trust. In a normal game, any confirming of town power roles has to happen out in public, where there is the chance for wolves to see that information and know who to target with night kills. Giving town the ability to confirm each other privately without the wolves knowing overpowers them. Especially since you have (theoretically) private messaged people individually and not as a group amongst those who have claimed seer, you have essentially made yourself an outside the game check on truth, as no wolf dares try to claim a power role they don't have because they don't know if you're separately telling others to check the same person as they "seered." That may feel good to you as it makes winning the game much easier, but surely you can see how that takes the fun and competition out of it?
