- Mods are encouraged!

I do feel like the competition/strategic community are lacking in mod request. While, comparatively, Diplomacy and FFA's have plenty. For strategic, there are some interesting stuff with respect to picking. But to be honest, something that changes gameplay would be really interesting.

A great strategic mod, would probably "seem" simple (like Picks Swap), but the gameplay effect is is very noticeable. Since it "seem" simple, it's a good chance that it is also not to challenging to make such a mod. So if you either a) want to make your own mod but need help getting started or b) would like someone to make the mod for you, then I encourage you to share your mod request :)

there are already some pretty good strategic mods out there

  • KotH and CTF: Both add an extra win condition
  • ConCom: Combined a good map this mod is really intesting! The mod does need some practice before you get used to it tho
  • Highest Income Disadvantage: Useful for team games without no fog
  • Late Airlifts: Removes the ability to save a territory with an airlift
  • Randomized Bonuses / Wastelands: Mostly avoided, but imo they can be used to create games which always need new pick strategies
  • LA: Make every player prioritize their orders since not all of them will go through
  • LMA: Adds a maximum range for MA
  • LDH: Allow LD for bigger maps with bigger teams / more players!
  • Portals: Essentially add 1 to 3 random connections to the map
  • RSC: Make some territories more attractable than others every new game
  • Special Units are Medics: The riskier you play with your commander, the more you are rewarded!


But besides the possibilities, I do agree with @TBest that most mods are not really aimed at the strategic community. If anyone has a mod idea, you can always message me :)

any fog level will work, but the mod plays spy cards on the player that has the most income so the mod will have no effect when no fog is used :p

The problem is, that you are asking for a modded template, which only members can create, and as a reward you offer membership.

Maybe you should make an alt, purchase a monthly membership for it, and offer it to players who mail you.

I created a fort card mod. It still needs some work, though the effect would be cosmetic. Team support is to be added.
The effect on the game is visible but small. Which is good, I think.

@Castel Gandolfo: no I didn't. I think those situations will occur rarely since it would require none of them to have a bonus and both of them to deploy 2 armies on the same front to attack each other. in most of those situations at least one player will go for a bonus or secure card pieces, since this is a crucial aspect of the template. in fact having 0 income and missing out on card pieces for a turn means you're dead, so the case in which this occurs to both players is irrelevant.

Every turn you get two bomb cards which reduce the number of armies by 2 and can turn neutral if the amount of armies is 0.

The mod also allows the host to make the bomb card happen after all orders, which adds an interesting how to counter.

Just note that the Essentials mod might be a bit confusing. It isn't finished yet but its only purpose is to give documentation of the mods to the players. Just read the manuals of the mods used in the game

Conquering Japan has a tactical justification even without income, but Korea is easily the most useless territory on the map because there is a territory im East Russia right above it which double borders West China as well and gives more advantages than Korea when coming from Japan (and taking Korea coming from the opposite side is pure nonsense). Hence, the only two cases in which Korea would ever be taken in high level games is when that East Russia territory is a wasteland or occupied by your opponent.

So I thought, Korea deserves a meaning!

(Obviously this disbalances the template completely and is a pure joke submission, but my point above remains having some validity)
