How does this new real-money system differ from online poker? This is effectively gambling, is it not? Isn't online poker banned in the USA?

Apparently not, because in poker cards (randomness) decide(or at least influence) who win.
Warlight games can be now randomness-free, so it's quite different. My knowledge about law(especially in US:P) is low, but i can partially understand that distinction.
Only partially, because 'paper-rock-scissors' game is randomness-free in the same way - and i would still call it gambling if you anyone is to play it for money. And warlight in some situations is very similar to paper-rock-scissors, even with no-luck settings.

i feel like after adding this update, the simple warlight and 100% pure fun playing is gone. :(

Sirius you have a point. The initial playing for pure fun and enjoyment will diminish somewhat.

That being said, very interesting update. As long as monetizing doesn't create an uneven playing field most players wouldn't mind. That is Warlights greatest appeal.

but there will be coingames in ADDITION to all the other games.. so playing for fun on coinless will be the same as now..

@fridge, you are half right. Some people indeed will still play for fun after this upgrade (like you). Some people after the update might play warlight solely for "money" instead of fun :( Also, i feel like this is not a really good update for kids who play warlight (all base on personal opinion).

Multiple accounts would be very easy to exploit. Since players are given a few coins initially, anyone could just make multiple accounts and withdraw all the initial coins on each of those accounts.

there's a simple solution:

- before getting free coins, you have to register with your ID, passport etc. like on every serious poker or betting site
optional: - you also have to attach a bank account by a fee (let's say $1)
but then:
- you get what you paid plus the bonus free points
- you cannot withdraw those free points before you play let's say 10x their coinworth
- you can register multiple accounts on you, but will only get the free coins once. new accounts don't get them if you already have been given those.


this is basically how other sites deal with that

sirius - I'm almost completery retired of warlight.. this may however bring me back at least if i'll be good enough to be succesful on that field, most likely stuffed with top tier players..

i doubt many will move to coingames simply because of the no-luck settings.. most of us like to have at least some luck factor in the game..

few points: i read is possible send an invite and challenge a player, right? can you custom few setting (apart the fixed ones, the luck etc for legal thing) ?

will teamgames be implemente or there is some sort of legal issue?

are you sure FFA will work? i will leave here an example:
FFA 4 player. let's say me and another player try to join the same game over and over. and we try to win one time each of us. will be so eay and cheap win. This will create some sort of problem.

Though I may not play for money, I think this is a very cool update. If you dont want to play for money then dont, its as simple as that. Just like every update. If you dont want to play with LD then dont.

First dose is for free - every drug dealer knows it :P
