à Julius first comment string: I was wrong about China having an active army larger than the US population. I looked it up. Somebody told me that, and I was gullible...I will not make this mistake twice.
The September 11 attack may not have necessarily had government involvement, but it certainly gave a reason to push a good reason to invade a splendid oily country. The point of the Iraq War was not really so much as to purge extremism, but rather to rigmarole their way into controlling a nice oil country, which they managed to quasi-do, but then realised that the detriments weighed more than the benefits. In the Beslan siege, and Chechen wars Russia sort of wanted to do this, but realised that the detriments would VASTLY outweigh the benefits (5-10% of Russia is Muslim) and immediately put it out.
Also, see my comment about Xinjiang and Xizang. US very likely does the same thing in their puny mountains.
The Chinese aren't 20 years ahead jackass, we'd know. The CIA is the best in the business.
Ah, good times, the 1970s were. I have no idea who was president of the US, but Brezhenev was good. But seriously, my comment about the HI and the CIA at the same power was an exageration, I thought it was obvious. More realistically, US competes with the NIO. Don't say the CIA is best, though, that's an exaggeration. I'm not anti-American, I'm just saying the choices it's picking are pretty dumb and it is behind now. What's to stop me from calling you pro-American? The MSS is unbeatable. China is the best at foreign foreign espionage/surveillance and antiespionage/antisurveillance. As I see it, if China went into non-atomic war with US, it would be a stalemate, with both coasts getting severely damaged. If it was an atomic war, 8000>1000 and US would crush China, but also be pretty hurt itself and occupying such a country would lead to insurgency, no doubt. Perhaps succesful insurgency. Look at the ROC, in 1947, a couple of communists had an idea, and in 4 years, there was no ROC. I do appreciate that you at least try to have a little realism, other than the US of skourby.
European Russia is bigger than 5% of Russia's land. Also, Russia has way more Cold War defences against this than US does. There's many Cold War bunkers, perhaps 1/100 people. Especially in European Russia. Mainland US has a higher population density than European Russia.
Going back to China, China doesn't have "damned" ships, blessed would be the word :). Also, I don't know what this would be called in any language, I'm not sure; I guess it would be a shed without a floor connecting to an ocean or river? Anyhow, that's where China would construct and store it's fighter ships if it was smart (and it is). Also, Kruschev was not really all for nuclear weapons that were controlled by some other country with a drastically different culture (and possibly ideology). Soviet Union didn't just give the blueprints to China, it maybe gave some Kazakh uranium in a show of good faith. Minimal involvement. Would have China been stinted if Soviet Union didn't help? Maybe by a year or two.
à Lucid Dreamer: Irrelevant, but perhaps true. I'm not going to say much, just that none of the Abrahamic religions have been too peaceful except the purest Abrahamic religion itself, Bahaï (perhaps because of the low number of adherents). But to your second comment about stability, that is true.
