I wrote about superiority complex because I noticed you often talk to other players in condescending way
"The reality is you would've been just fine if you weren't constantly starting fights in our discord, but you just couldn't help yourself." - yea I agree with that one
I don't do so very often though, it's only when someone make a fool out of themselves. Obviously I can see what you mean here, I was kind of taking the piss. (Although I do genuinely think diplos are pretty cancer from experience, that's why I stay away from them, too much toxicity)
If you have auto boot and let booted players turn into AIs and include mods like AIs don’t attack, AIs don’t play cards and or AIs don’t deploy, that’ll be the best compromise. Game still progresses promptly and game isn’t necessarily ruined by someone being booted and AIs causing havoc.
I'm finding it amusing how berdan acknowledges that Octane is among the best players in the game, and then moves on to call his communication style "condescending" in a completely game-related context. If you can't accept that a better player tells you what's correct and what's wrong, how could Octane improve to avoid being condescending?
I don't really agree with you, I still wouldn't take that comment back. I was a bit of a dick about it, sure, but pretty much every diplo I've played, including the one linked here, some petty fight started over a person's actions or the rules, and it made the entire game a shit-slinging contest. I really wouldn't recommend being a part of that community to anyone, last time I played a diplo was like 7 years ago.
However, My belief in life is if you join something with rules, you follow the rules, no matter how “stupid”, how “mean”, or how “game breaking” they are. The second you choose to join his game you agreed to his first rule: he has sole authority, he has full power, he can make rules, enforce rules, make up new rules.
No matter how dumb those rules are, they second you joined you gave up your ability to have a say. Also you stated he has a history of being “angry” or rude or whatever verbiage you used. Knowing that, why would you even put yourself in a position to upset him or to cause an issue? Me personally if i knew the host was out to get me i would do everything in my power to avoid that, i wouldn’t escalate things, i wouldn’t whine, i wouldn’t prolong my turn when all others were done and waiting, i wouldn’t give him the opportunity to boot me.
Life is not sunshine and rainbows i think what Reich was messed up and 1 minute timer is very very dumb and I’m not saying what he did was right because it was not and it was super childish, but you should’ve read the fine print before you joined if you were going to have an issue with how it ran.
Expecting both parties to take responsibility for their actions and realize it's not a black and white issue as to who erred? Wow, you have high expectations. Props though for laying it out in a fair way.
