Welcome to the new, amazing, chess-inspired, high-level RT format: Titled Tuesdays!

What is Titled Tuesdays?
Titled Tuesdays will be an open, regular, 64 player single-elimination RT tournament with (typically nominal) coin prizes (3 minutes boot + 5 banked), happening weekly at 4 pm GMT-5 (New York time), enabling both American and European players to participate. It is intended to fill the void left by WGL, be easier to organize (no mandatory stream) and have extra features making it more interesting. I will frequently participate, occasionally I might not be able to or have to push the tournament by half an hour.

Extra features like what?
For starters, the template will be, as a rule, determined by the previous week’s winner. I reserve the right to veto the template selected, but I will only do that in case of trolling (e. g. lotto template), I will not do that in case of template picks that are very simple (e. g. SEAD). The only rule is that no template may be selected twice in a row: If you win on French Brawl, you cannot pick French Brawl as next week’s template.

Knowing this community, let me mention for the sake of clarity: Pro-forma changes, such as adding a card piece at the start of the game, will not be considered a different template. A different template is one which features reasonably distinguishable gameplay, as deemed by me. Repeating last week’s map (as opposed to template) is allowed. Failure to submit the template by Monday before the beginning of the tournament will result in me picking a template. In the absence of a reigning winner, I will pick the first template, which is going to be Red Dead Redemption.

Why is Titled Tuesdays so amazing?
This event will feature something no WarLight event has featured before: A physical, signed winner’s certificate! Yes, you heard it right. Every winner of a Titled Tuesday who is willing to share an address with me will receive a winner’s certificate from me by post, to put on the wall (if you have very empty walls and no girlfriend), or otherwise to throw somewhere, rediscover after years and remember the times when dinosaurs still walked the fields of WarLight!

I will not use the address provided for any other purpose. Destinations outside the United States might take weeks to receive the certificate. Destinations under sanctions by the United States might have to wait years until said sanctions are lifted and post can be received. Alternatively for these players (and those uncomfortable with sharing an address), I can send you a scan!

Do I need a title to participate?
No. I just figured “Titled Tuesday” sounds cool.

Addition for the sake of our friend Swiftscout: If you have a boyfriend, wife, husband, or another SO (whatever an SO is) that objects, you are also encouraged to refrain from putting your certificate up on the wall.

Really good idea. My only issue is the name + it being on Tuesday, makes it look like not only the idea, but more than that is taken from chesscom Titled Tuesday.

I am unsure if there is any plans on streaming but that would make Tuesday a bad choice, for similar reason.

My humble suggestion would be picking wednesday, and I am pretty sure a good name may be found for it (since, both warzone and wednesday starts with w).

Nice fun community event. Great idea imo. In favour of streaming, as I think most people who will be interested wont cheat.

TR-8R already rightfully pointed out that I missed an opportunity to make Tiny Troubles the first Titled Tuesday template. Maybe that chance will come again though, once someone makes a Trouble in Terrorist Town template!

Uzay, I purposefully copied the Titled Tuesday name from chess.com to make people recognize the character of this new event easily. If there is a good reason to move to a different day later, that will of course still be possible.

i’m all in for titty teusday but why tuesday? and how will games actually work!
64 players at 10-15 minutes per game real time equals many hours.
if i might suggest, do this as a month long event rt on tuesday (or whatever day). fust week has 4/8 players in each tournament, and winners move on. to weeks 2, 3 and finals on 4. requires greater monthly commitment but not 12 hours of rt in one sitting.

I played many 64 player single elimination tournaments, they rarely take more than 90 minutes, and even that only for the two players that make the final :)

Dan, my impression is that availability of most people is much better on weekdays. On weekends, I want to be out with my wife and friends, but right after work, I don't mind a RT tourney. I've hosted many RT tournaments over the years and my observation is that this is true for many people.

Unfortunately I work every Tuesday morning, which is when this takes place in my timezone. But lovely idea! If someone were to stream it, please record it. I'd love to watch a quick RT tourney like the old days.
