IP bans fail for proxies, TOR and dynamic IPs. Chasing proxies alone is a full-time job - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_on_open_proxies/Guide_to_checking_open_proxies

Wikipedia blocks all of those. Once they give you an IP ban, they mean it, it's really hard/near impossible to edit from the same location with a ban.

Though they have years of experience and a team of programmers working full-time.

Wikipedia has many, many moderators. Including automatic bot reverting suspected vandalism (works better than expected, but it required massive amount of work). And is some cases it is quite hard to get rid of persisteny idiots. For example Polish wikipedia needed to block hundreds of thousands (what become hot topic in media) just to block single person editing random articles to insert photo of penis. (googling "penis wandal wikipedia" will give more info, AFAIK all is in Polish).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrators%27_noticeboard is example of how much work it requires. For example https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_on_open_proxies handles solely requests to block suspected proxies.

Imho the like dislike should determine what you should and shouldn't want to read. It should not dictate what others have to read

autoclicker

I never knew these existed. Awesome.

Just set one up to open profiles and look at peoples stats in auto games, instead of making all those clicks.

The forums are so boring now...
not because the spam is hidden but because decent threads no longer appear for anyone to see unless accessing the forum button.
We should be able to see new threads created as a priority over all these boring played out ones.
The threads shown on the dashboard havent changed in a week...

Please change this

Voting threshold needs to be raised in Off-Topic forum. It's basically a politics forum so every thread is naturally going to have a lot of people disagree with it so they downvote it. 95% of the threads are being hidden as a result.

I don't know if Warlight is big enough and people care enough to organize downvoting of every random thread in that forum.

why are you taking the time to downvote threads because you disagree with them politically? Alt-right posts aren't even that bad, it's 1416 who's spamming all this crap which is the real problem. Get rid of spam, not free speech. In fact, you're starting to look like an authoritarian because you're trying to control the forums

Well, take it into context. Having a easily disagrable forum, it's going to have a crash when you don't put exclusive thresholds into it.

clan league update doesn't even appear on the dashboard

This forum system sucks!
If a new post is made it should appear so we can see it
What's the point in continuingly having the same postings showing?

We need to be able to see the latest postings. That's how a forum works

Average time of last posing on threads showing is over 33 hours. I would say the forum system has officially died

As a suggestion, perhaps we could have a downvote button but no upvote?

Karl and anonym are persistent trolls who do not usually play the game. They do need to be dealt with.

I agree with Zephyrum.

Both play the game, and Karl plays the game extensively. He's always asking to play a 2v2 or a WWII scenario. I played a game with 1416 and Karl once, and neither were half-bad. I wouldn't have any problem saying that both 1416 and Karl are skilled at the game.

I think you should be able to downvote a single person in the post but not an entire thread, i agree its more like reddit...

Simple solution: User preference to set personal forum threshold from a fixed set of levels, "Announcements and popular posts", "General audience", "Controversial discussions", "Flamey shit", "Spammy shit".

A simple numerical scale (determined by Fizzer) would be associated with each level. Essentially, it would be like +1, 0 (default), -1, -2, -3. You could simplify it to just three levels, or even just two, if you really wanted. I'm just giving the general idea.

Default would be General Audience (0). For those who really get bothered by forum stuff, they can opt-in to "Announcements and popular posts only" (+1). For those willing to view and engage in more of the typical OT discussion-type posts, they could opt-in to "Controversial discussions" (-1). The other two levels are just to allow the shitposters a chance to vent their shitposting without bothering everyone else (-2), and to allow the worst of the worst spammy kinds of posts (-3) to be monitored by anyone willing to endure them.

Once you pick your personal threshold, you only bother downvoting things that you're seeing but which don't belong at your current threshold level.

I would expect most posts to sit at the default 0. Only those that get a significant net-positive rating would rank up to +1. Anything that bugs the majority of forumers will eventually get bumped down to -1, and for things even the OT-regulars can't stand will get bumped even lower.

Aside from the implementation of a user-preference for personal threshold, the current system would remain basically identical to how it is now. It would be a relatively simple fix and I think it would satisfy just about everybody.

fix the voting in the off-topic forum please. 90% of threads are still being hidden. people are clearly downvoting like assholes, people they don't like, topics they don't like etc. only threads that should be hidden are troll/spam threads, not threads where people are having real discussions.
