Looks like FCC's strategy was a good one to run up the 1v1s. It helped significantly in them claiming first place through Pardon of Masters Clan sweeping two tournaments with solid performances elsewhere, especially 2v2 Guiroma. FCC ended the season with a strong 20-5 performance to Hydra's 18-7 but only finished two points ahead. Its a pity that ACME tied Hydra's 18-7 score but ended up 4 points behind. 1v1s are important but team games continue to be more valuable. This kind of validated Hydra's strategy to run up the tally on team games ideally to make up for our 1v1s being unable to match FCC in 1v1s. Our 1v1s ended up poorer then I anticipated which was unfortunate but lessons are always learned. Onto Division C now.

FCC also had to recover from boots earlier, I think its safe to say if Nauz is excluded from our lineup we do even better.

Mind you we only lost two games with the nauz boots excluded.

Nauz boots -

3v3 DROR vs. FBG
Obviously would've been a win since we won it with a nauz boot.

3v3 DROR vs. ACME
This one we weren't so lucky. But with poor results against Hydra and Poon Squad, we likely get the win.

1v1 Old Strat ME vs ACME
Doubt this goes in sfg's favor considering how good ACL Tears is. Still a shot is better than no shot.

1V1 Old Strat ME vs. Poon Squad
Bayern's only win came to a Nauz boot.

So likely if we don't shoot ourselves in the foot with trusting nauz we go 22-3 with a score of 78 and Hydra takes out ACME sooner.

Now this is not to complain, because we did this to ourselves, but it made things more interesting, and made me more proud of the FCC.

Smoove/SFG/DAM 2-1
Aura/BADA 4-1
Pardon 10-0
SFG 3-0

Moving onto C I feel very confident as our lineup features good 1v1 players but top tier 2v2 and 3v3 players. We will definitely need it with how loaded C will be

Overview:
Well, its done, guys. Q1 of Cl9 has wrapped up its competition. As predicted, the results for the top three clans were close, with FCC, Hydra, and ACME all within 6 points of each other when the score was tallied. Unfortunately, ACME found itself on the short end of the stick, and was, of the three contending clans, the one that failed to promote. FCC was buoyed by a strong performance by Pardon99, going 10-0, and also by a suprisingly deft pinch hitter in sloppyfatginger, who incredibly manged 3-0 after an 0-2 boot start courtesy of Nauzhror. As a result, FCC still managed to squeak first place in spite of the boot and substitutions.

Hydra, on the other hand, relied on an incredible 5-0 run and a 4-1 run in 3v3 deadman's rome and 2v2 guiroma to secure second. There 1v1 performance proved to be slightly underwhelming, however, team play definitely allowed them to avoid the stinker-hole.

ACME was up there as well, but there were two major culprits I would like to point to that dragged them below the HYDRA/FCC bar, that they could have avoided with better planning. First, the boot of biggreen15 on 1v1 Guiroma Vs. FCC. Although the game was against FCC's Ace, biggreen15 otherwise went 4-0 on 1v1 Guiroma. Secondly, the losses against Poon Squad. Every clan had to deal with at least 1 loss to poon squad on 1v1 play, however, the loss to Poon Squad on 3v3 Deadman's Rome to Poon Squad proved to be particularly deadly. Kudos to Poon Squad for pulling off that win, and their deceptively good strategic players that surprise, however, I believe that ACME did have the depth and skill level to put up a roster that would beat the best Poon Squad players. I am a strong believer in not looking at what others do, and instead looking at what you yourself did, in order to be better for next time, and these are the two things I felt ACME most definitely could have handled better.

Kudos to Poon Squad for a good performance, considering the nature of their clan and the nature of the competition. There are some deceptively good players hidden within their roster. Every clan had to deal with a 1v1 loss to poon squad at least once, proving their potency. I applaud them for their efforts, and wish them luck in future clan leagues as their players continue to slowly, silently, but surely improve.

FBG fizzled down the stretch. They started off reasonably well, but ended up far lower than poon squad. This clan is old, and their philosophy does not allow them to recruit. This clan continues on its long, downward spiral, as their players leave the game/lose motivation and they don't replenish.

I think we definitely discussed Olympus's Problems in detail enough. They only one 1! game, on Old Strat ME, vs Poon Squad. I guess they took pity on Olympus by allowing to avoid the first ever "0" showing in clan league. Well, no matter, we can all agree that this was one of the worst performances in cl ever, if not the worse. I speculate why they even attempted, when they only got thrashed. If they really want to improve, they have to really get some new blood flowing in them.

And Now, for the Grades:

1. FCC (70 Points) B+: A powerful 1v1 performance. However, they were banking on pardon99 and a recovery from nauzhror boots, and therefore got somewhat lucky, so that prevents them from getting an A-.

2. Hydra (68 Points) A-: Hydra put up an incredible team effort to get through this. I applaud them for their ability to work through their weaker 1v1 performance. The fact that they finish with that weaker 1v1 performance, although traditionally less valued then team performance in clan league, prevents them from getting the solid A.

3. ACME (64 Points) B+: Little quips and little mistakes hindered them, but I felt overall they did well enough to be worthy of a B+

4. Poon Squad (37 Points) C+: Being an upsetter boosts their grades past average, but still, they have a lot of work to do before they truly can compete.

5. FBG (28 Points) C-/D+: A clan in decline, and it showed. They got some points though, so it works out for them.

6. Olympus (3 Points) F: Need I say anything?

All in all, congratulations to FCC and Hydra for the promotion spots, and good luck in C! As for ACME, Poon Squad, FBG, and Olympus, I wish you well in D1/D2, and may you get an opportunity to promote in future leagues.

Nice recap! I honestly felt our 3v3 would have had a hard time getting less than 4-1, so I am not so surprised we went 5-0. I knew FCC would be the hardest team to beat and it was. Thanks to my partners for this great run and to my opponents!

@Aura Guardian
Thank you very much for your magnificient score-keeper work!
I really enjoy them all, during the season! Very good job! (you, Min34 and Onoma94 are my favourite score-keepers ;) )

And congrats (and thx for the interesting Q1 promotion fight) to the TOP3 clans, nice jobs as well!
And of course big thx for MotD and Beren as well! This format (A and B group, plus the Q1-3 with C playoffs) is very cool and enjoyable for a viewer like me.

I am eager to know what will be the end in the C (and in A and B too) :D

@Master of the Dead and Ekstone

Thank You! If you need someone to pinch-scorekeep in the future, please feel free to ask. I would be happy to scorekeep for the second part of the competition, if need be as well.

FCC Substitutions for round 2:

1v1 Greece: Omniscient -> Jyu Viole Grace

2v2 China: Des {TJC} -> [FCC]SuperGamerzChannel (I know we said Super Smoove -> Des earlier; I don't see this change in the CL9 document. Will Super Smoove -> Des count as a substitution if round 2 hasn't started? If no, then Super Smoove -> [FCC]SuperGamerzChannel )

2v2 China: Jyu Viole Grace -> SloppyFatGinger

So our 2v2 China roster is SloppyFatGinger and [FCC]SuperGamerzChannel

I was hoping for some clarification about lineups for stage 2. I was under the impression from the CL Stage 1 game chat that clans had unlimited substitutions after they finish stage 1 and before stage 2 begins. More or less, I was assuming that a clan more or less gets to submit a fresh lineup from the roster for stage 2, regardless of what a clan submitted at the beginning of stage 1. If I am wrong, please correct me.

Well, all I can say is that it reads that way on the Rules tab in the document ;)
Group Q1/2/3/4 Every clan must submit a lineup for each of the two Stages.

The line-up for both stages must be submitted before the start of the league when groups are drawn for Q1,Q2,Q3,Q4. However, a clan may make any number of changes to their Stage 2 line-up before Stage 2 actually begins. These changes will not count towards their limit of 6 substitutions over the course of the season.

So I assume that lineup's can be hidden until start of Stage 2? Well, FCC don't have the biggest roster so you could probably predict who they would play anyway.

@GE and TBest, you both understood correctly. You can make as many changes to your slStage 2 lineup before Stage 2 begins. We have lineups for all of the clans, but you'll notice they aren't yet visible on the lineups tab.

We do all that you try to make any changes you plan on at one time, since lineup changes are still being done manually.

So if I were to make changes to the lineup, I would send the amendments via mail (the same mail I submitted the lineups through I assume).

Yep that works. We will also give 3-7 days(depends on how long Q3 takes) heads up before we start Groups C, D1, D2.

Everyone will get a chance to make changes. The line-ups will be disclosed on the day the groups begin.
