is this a challenge
Just a point I wanted to add: WarLight follows the general trend of a browser game, and that is to have an ever-decreasing number of clans(/guilds/groups/whatever name). This is because people's desire to grow is oftentimes bigger than the reward they get for sticking to a community. In WarLight, since sticking to a community only gives you an extra forum page to access, there's very little reason to stick. And for those with no goal to improve, they normally get bored a lot faster and "retires". The first case is common in growing strategy players, while the second case is common on more lax strat players and diploers. Both ways, people leave. And fast.
While in theory there is a steady influx of newcoming players, realistically speaking this influx is very ephemeral and many of the newcomers either retire quickly or stick to open games.
It's not your fault that the clan was messed up in a large amount of alts and people leaving over time, this is the natural decay every clan gets at some point if they are not the "top 5 or so" or have a very uncommon community feeling.
Kicking most people out was kinda rash, but by no means too bad. Don't blame yourself for getting tired of risk simulator.
