Update for Week 2 - July 23rd to July 28thAnother slow progressing week, brought on by min's eternal vacation (love ya min <3), and the crawl that is clan league. Will we finish before the slowpokes in Division A? Probably. But only because of the true competition of A, that is to be the last player with a game in clan league. I do have a few things to talk about, so I best stop rambling and get on with it.
kicorse, krunx, and Mostly Harmless defeat Vole, Lord Koros, and Sherlock Holmes
{101st} vs. The Wizardshttps://www.warzone.com/MultiPlayer?GameID=16013195Might be one of the craziest Biomes of America boards I've seen. It featured a triple
Sao Paulo and Rio bonus, triple
Alaska Coastline bonus, double
East Coast bonus (complimented well by a possible
Toronto pick,
Southern Amazon double pick, and a plethora of other great picks. It's almost the perfect board for the style of picking required by 3v3 Biomes. Now things get fairly complicated when talking about picks on Biomes, so I'll make this short and sweet. 101st took the strategy of not valuing the triple bonuses so early. Instead preferring to bet their chances that they could disrupt any early comboing by the wizards. This included, putting more value in double bonuses (such as
Southern Amazon) Wizards took a slightly different strategy, instead focusing on the easier less challenging parts of the map, while also not overcommiting in the triple bonuses, often preferring just to pick 2 in that area. Vole also picked short of the amount he should've. Though it didn't cost him, such mistakes can be deadly.
101st gets a pretty strong advantage at picks, despite starting in the hole on income, still having much better combos and early income opportunities. Turn 1 goes perfect for 101st as they are able to hold position in
Pernambuco (due to Sherlock's overdeployment in Inuvik), gaining a lot of early income and getting positional advatage in east coast. Vole being in an uncontested position also gets a good jump on income, but still doesn't match krunx's or kicorse's total. Turn 2 was another beauty for 101st, swapping a bonus in
Sao Paulo and Rio for
East Coast. 101st was still able to keep good position due to their
Pampas bonus, taking
Rio Grande do Sul with a stack to ensure a higher chance at breaking it next turn. This also pressures Sherlock in Alaska as he has to defend against a stack by krunx as well. Lord Koros also has two of his starts eliminated, leaving him with limited strategy. (He could've guaranteed denied
East Coast in what would've been a much better strategy.)
The game from here is fairly over; despite the best spells that wizards could possibly cast, the strong bombardment from 101st was too much too handle.
Sherlock Holmes, Lord Koros, and Vole defeat sound_of_silence, lineal2012, and Ninja:)
The Wizards vs. Very Important WeirdosGAME DELETED DUE TO NONJOIN
Apparently The Wizards have a fairly strong sleeping spell that made Ninja not able to join his game! Either that or Ninja decided giving up his position was not worthwhile. Regardless, this is not how VIW wants to start Division C.
Overview{101st} rebounds putting themselves in first place. They're currently second in Total Points and third in Max Points though, so they still have a lot of work ahead of them.
The Wizards gets another set of free points to extend them to 8 points, but how long they can keep racking up points all depends on their players steeping up to push the advantage already built for them.
Apprentice and
New World Order have yet to complete a game. Good job guys, we should send ya'll straight to A immediately.
CORP finishes no games this week, and remains 0-1. Look on the bright side CORP, 0-1 is a hell of a lot better than 0-2!
Hopefully I didn't bore you, but there wasn't a whole lot to talk about this week, maybe the next will be different!
P.S. when I'm less lazy, I'll fix the lines to better match the clans :P
