If you consider the older warlight community had less than half the maps, competitive players, clans, tutors, templates, events etc etc. Its not hard to figure out the opportunity to progress to the standards of today was unattainable. The average skill has risen dramatically, as has the standard skill of 'competitive players', why would the goats of back then have any chance or reason to be on the same skill level today if they could win the way they did. No question this current gen would smack older players, but you cant compare how these players used to play to today's. That's why it is best to look at influence, because they 'influenced' this whole current community, through gradual dissemination of new moves and strategy. Without them then the top players of today would just be filling the same shoes they walked in.

Do you include Pele and Maradona into the top twenty footballers of all time? Absolutely. Are they the standard of the best today, no chance.

A better question to ask is what factors should contribute to a "All-Time" Great player. Longevity? Peak skill at any one time? Teachability? Influence? Popularity?
