Once again, to all the people whining about this game mode(cough Caesar cough), it hasn't been implemented yet, and it will be an option to use, not mandatory. It's not pay-to-play.

but that exactly what it is, it crowds the game, and it will crowd the game with people who will fix and make a quick buck off of a game that was created to be fun, and leisurely competitive, its just a casino run by Fizzer the mob boss now and it disgusts me. I was on this game since 1.0 on a very very old account which is now my choice alt. This game has changed, some has been for the better, but a good deal for the worse, and I have kept my mouth shut through all of it. I just cant stand it anymore, and truth be told, fizzer has become a lot more totalitarian in the past few years. I'm sorry, ill just leave you guys to it, none of you were here then, so none of you care. Whatever, I just lost a lot of respect for the game that I have come to love. but now its no better than any of the games I can go and get on Steam for Free "Pay for this feature" "Pay to win money" " Pay for this and that" Your right, I need not participate, and trust me, I wont. But I am an equal member here and I am allowed to voice my opinion, or is that not allowed either? I am ashamed at this game and what is has become, a mere shell of its former self. Sorry, but I guess I shouldn't post on the forums anymore, I usually don't seeing as they've become a mess anyways, but this tops the cake.

Guys, think on the positive side....fizzer needs the money to improve the site...as many have calculated before he needs atleast $1000 to keep the site running...and as you have noticed not that many people buy a membership and the ads block is only making it worst....howeverthrough this new mode fizzer can keep the site running and make some money to improve the site, there is no line to cross here. Only a guy trying to keep a game going here so people can enjoy it...like its said the mode is not mandatory so it shouldnt affect you anyhow...so play like you normally would and lets other enjoy making some cash from.playing and improve their gameplay.

I dont think it's a bad thing. like it has been said already, its only an option like local deployment. Even easier to check for also as you probably will be warned joining a coin game. it's not like it takes away from the whole experience. use it or don't!

Caesar - If what you say is true, you've been here since 1.0 - big deal. I've been here since beta, as far as i remember among others so was szeweningen, heyheuhei and myhand. So I have proven at least four people out of who has spoken in this very thread have been playing this game for longer than you have. Even if there were none, it would not make your argument less invalid. I dare to believe some of the newer players care more about where the game is going, because we've already had our time on the site. We've played thousands of games, had hundreds of hours of good time in here, and we no longer care as much as a new members, excited at the very beginning of their WL journey..
Besides - why the hell shouldn't Fizzer make any serious profit out of this game? He has stood by this site for so long, developed it on his own, yet not without listening to ever growing community here. I am perfectly fine for whatever profit he wants to achieve as long as there will be an option of playing for free. And there will, and hopefully this will never change. I don't care whether there are going to be pay-to-play matches in the lobby as much as I don't care about neither lottery games nor FFAs.. I guess it's likely there will be a filter to hide paid games, just like the filter for lotteries.
I don't get your gamecrowding argument either.. What you're saying is that paying for money will instantly multiply the number of people playing the game? I doubt that, but if it happens then guess what - In my humble opinion it will only be a good thing. More people = more matches, more variety, more maps, more templates, more events, higher strategical value of the games (the latter will have to happen if they want to earn money).. So crowding the game will be a good thing. If you just want to play with your old friends - nobody forbids you to..

I remember making this suggestion when i 1st joined the site, so im pretty happy about 3.0
Ive been around online poker for awhile so here are a few things that come to mind.
FFA - dont do it, it wont be worth the trouble. Youll get collusion, youll get people complaining about collusion, youll have people quitting because of collusion.
There was a really popular poker game called double or nothings, but they were a collusion magnet so a lot of sites just got rid of them. Not worth the trouble.
Make an option "do you want do receive personal challenges?" and make the default "no". If you dont do this all the vets will be challenging all the newbs. Plus even with harsh penalties people will still cheat and create new accounts.

He explained very good what i say earlier in this thread. @For who don't like this update - you are not forced to play for cash. Ladder will still be for fun (but i guess soon or later fizzer will make a NEW ladder for cash only). @For szew - at least you will have a good reason for play me now ;)

Fridge, you can add me to the list of long-time members who are in favor of this move. As I see it, there is no possible justification to complain about additional features when previous aspects remain intact.
Hellbender/Caesar... shall I call you Ellsworth Toohey? Or would you prefer James Taggart? I think the second seems more apt. How can you possibly justify complaining about another person doing what they see fit with their own intellectual property? You have no rights to that property. Zero. If Fizzer thinks that monetizing his IP is important then he is free to do so without your consent.

to those worried about the elites taking all your coins, i would expect Fizzer to match the skill levels somehow (either a system of tiers like the 20 relegation league, or in the same way that the ladders try to match opponents of same rating for example). also would be interesting to allow top skilled players to unlock higher wagers. i think it can be mathematically calculated how to ensure profit for the house despite giving out free coins, considering there is always a percentage of it that goes for the house, a limit to how much you can wager and a limit to how much you need to reach to be able to withdraw some of it.

in poker you can get lucky with the cards, so even if you're pretty bad you can still pull it off against a pro if you get lucky. on warlight if you're not pro you might pull something out of your ass one or two turns to surprise an expert player but it's a lot less likely that you'll keep it up during all the moves of the whole game.
i'm thinking if the wager ammount can be variable it might help filter the pros from the not so pros.
but i'm still not entirely convinced. well, let's see how it works out when it's live.
