I think it works like this.

A man created a cage (God makes everything)
Then the man fills it with dogs (people) He let's the dogs do as they wish as he does other business. But once the dogs start doing stuff that he doesn't like he intervenes.

Demons don't cause sickness (but when they do it's called possession) You just get sick

What up with the flat earth?

Comments are just commets.

Your "prove" proves nothing at all what so ever. It is just a theory.

yeah, if the argument is "its just a theory" then you have to throw out all science. evolution explains existing evidence and predicts new evidence. that is how science works. nothing can be "proven". scientific knowledge is a tool you use to make more scientific knowledge. when belief is involved it only corrupts science.

i think they need to teach more philosophy of science in high school. nearly everyone i talk to about science thinks that science is either right or wrong about something. it doesn't work that way. a scientist will tell you straight up (if he is a good scientist anyway) that he knows nothing for certain and even newton's laws of physics could change or stop working any second now. all a scientist can do is use the tools and knowledge available to him to either progress our knowledge or make something tangible.

i bet there's some scientists out there that have some serious doubts about the theory of evolution but still work in the framework of it, cause they either haven't thought of a better system or they're just trying to make a living. whether or not evolution is "true" there have been scientists that have used the "knowledge" of evolution for the betterment of mankind (disease control, new medicines, etc).

I understand how evolutionist could have helped the world but I don't think the theory of evolution helped anyone.

but suppose the theory of evolution was never thought up, and in it's place scientists thought up other theories that had more holes, or were a lot harder to learn, or didn't make as many predictions as evolution does. we may not have ended up with a flu vaccine (flu virus mutates so fast that new vaccines have to be created often). we may have been totally suprised by SARS, swine flu, avian flu, etc. and they may have turned into epidemics (all were viruses in animals that we had knowledge of that mutated to be passed to humans). that's just two examples i can think of off the top of my head.

of course they could have been explained or predicted by some other theory that we never thought of, but there's also a chance that they couldn't be explained or predicted by any other theory, or the theory was so lacking that the gaps in our knowledge were too big.

I don't think there are many scientists who think evolution is a bad theory, except for a few religiously-driven creationists. Thing is, nothing has ever been found that contradicts it, so a good scientist has no reason to have serious doubts. Instead, every piece of evidence ever found fits with it, and many, many successful predictions have been made based on it.

I agree about teaching more about science itself, it's so poorly understood here. People think a theory is something that just hasn't been proven enough to be a law yet...

Lucid Dreamer, the theory of evolution has helped humanity in a lot of ways.

Seriously, there is SO MUCH KNOWLEDGE available on the internet. Why remain ignorant? That's just one link, just one, but you could learn so much just starting there.

My questions were linked to evolution. If we teach creationism, we should teach those non-scientific explanations as well.

There seems to be an issue with the understanding of what a scientific theory is. A scientific theory is proven with testing re testing and the use of a hypothesis to ask a question, you must keep testing a Scientific theory but it is fact until it can be proven wrong. Hence Gravity and quantum mechanics.

Also I take a bit of offense to the "Narrow minded Catholic" comment, I'm Catholic and I just told you I believe in evolution, my only difference is that I believe God created the spark of life for this universe.

Creationism is merely a medieval explanation for "why" and "how" we exist.

"The earth is flat" is a non-scientific explanation for the nature of the earth. No evidence for it, tons of evidence against it.

"Demons make you sick" is a non-scientific explanation for the nature of the sickness. No evidence for it, tons of evidence against it.

"Human beings were created in their current form" is a non-scientific explanation for the nature of the living creatures. No evidence for it, tons of evidence against it.

Where in our religion do we say the earth is flat?

Where in our religion do we say that demons are the cause of every sickness?

Theirs no evidence at all that we came from apes.

You aren't going to win an argument with someone who staunchly believes that there is no god and has no acceptance for those that do have faith, its not worth it. I agree with you.

Ok, serious answers, just because.

"Where in our religion do we say the earth is flat?

Where in our religion do we say that demons are the cause of every sickness?

Theirs no evidence at all that we came from apes."

You don't, but it doesn't matter. The fact is, only scientifically validated subjects should be taught as science.

There is TONS of evidence that we came from apes, you just haven't looked. And won't look.

Here. Just one piece of evidence among millions. Not only a bit of evidence discovered that fits with evolution, it was actually predicted to exist before it was found. You know, one of the requirements of an established scientific theory, that it makes successful predictions.

Julius, are you referring to me? AFAIK, I've never said anything about my beliefs, or my acceptance for those who believe in god...
