But the thing that horrifies me the most is how you completely sideline the community. Could not make a poll about the name change so that some domain name holders would drive the price up? I can give a list of over 20 respectable and active WL community members that could have secretly helped with ideas about a proper name.

I am not saying that you should always follow your flock, but including the community into decision making is crucial. Because, when you think of it, this game would become an ordinary "click-here-to-play-for-money" game without and active and involved community.

- I really welcomed Coins games, because I understood the need for you to make money in order to keep sustaining and supporting this game.
- I welcomed the new Dashboard as an excellent move in the right direction (although implemented not in a very suitable manner).
- I agree with the prospect of a Logo change.
- I might support a Name change, if you really think this would be beneficial for the game.

Fizzer wants to grow the game and make it more profitable: fair enough.

But I don't feel this is a step in the right direction.

Also the community is what makes this game amazing and we have helped build it together with you. I feel we deserve at least a facade of influence. I've made a lengthy post on the blog about my thoughts; please consider it and the other points people have made.

i got excited about Wargame but of course that is taken, battleworld isnt and i could get used to that

the question is though, how far along have we already gone into the process of renaming? fizzer said he already negotiated a deal for getting legal rights on warzone.com, and it sounds like more than that has been planned

right now it seems he can either go through with this whole change (which he might do if it is already formalized enough), or he can scratch the deal, the plans, everything and keep things traditional, it doesnt seem like changing to a completely newly suggested name is likely to happen right now though

It's a very common mistake for people to assume that everyone owns the .com for their brand. Here, you accidentally mis-wrote my e-mail address as .com instead of .net. I have no idea if the player actually emailed me, as I wouldn't have gotten it, as we don't own warlight.com.

You aren't the only one who makes this mistake -- it gets made a lot. I see it on twitter and other places. People often just assume the address is a .com since it's, by far, the most popular top level domain. Every time this mistake is made, it's an opportunity for lost traffic. I find it a bit funny that the same person who mis-wrote the domain also came on this thread and says "There is ZERO reason to change the domain." Clearly, there's a reason. Julius, Fizzer doesn't deserve your crap. He's probably in an economic position worse than China/U.S. ( oh, i'm sorry. According to oxfam, he's actually the top 1% ( APPLAUSE )).
No matter what, we have to realize that this is all an aesthetic thing. Just like all of the new features, they can be ignored. I'm sure he won't change the well-established color scheme of the forums, or the tabs, and who honestly stares at the name of the site for more than 10 seconds?
The only thing I can understand is that we shouldn't change it to WarZone. There are definitely a lot of other things with warzone in the title. The .com thing is pretty important in this scenario I must agree.

No Ghengis, its about much more. We (Arun mostly) are the first to say we love a new feature, but when we say he hate something new because it dramatically effects the game, we deserve to be listened to. We all have a part in this game, and over the years, we've invested more hours than we'd care to say into it. The Dashboard, I'm not a huge fan of, but I could deal with it. Coins, eh, eventually I could live with, I just wont use mine ever. But this, and this new Mercer character are beginning to make me feel less and less like an individual on a game where I know most of the forum posters and more and more like I'm playing some giant browser game with like 1 million people and Ill never get to know the other forum posters. because thats what Fizzer wants, a million player game, a cash cow he can force an update out to every now and then to keep us content. This was a game for us to be a "family" of sorts. Our father figure has abandoned us. Why Fizzer why?

I don't see why this is the biggest deal in the world to you guys. I think this should have happened before the game could be played on Kongate (or whatever that site is called) so that it felt a little more needed instead of a random change, but then again, I don't make games that many people through out the world have played. I like the name Warlight, but it does sound kinda stupid/childish to a person who has not heard of this game before, and its all about marketing.

Also, well the layout/color scheme of the website change when the game is called Warzone instead of Warlight? This is kinda important when designing a logo as a purple logo does not go well with a site that is a color like yellow or green.
