Actually Lawlz, depending on the country/side/role in the war, it was a VERY different war.

Most accept Germany's declaration as the start and Japanese surrender as start and end, 1939 - 45.
Ethiopians or Britons might consider the Abyssinian War as the start ( as Abyssinia would become a battlegrund more than once in the same period ( hint hint 1940 ) ) in 1933.
Chinese might consider the start also at 1933, the Japanese invasion of them, but the end at the Chinese Civil War in 1949 ( or whenever ) since they never said they would stop fighting and might consider it a phase of the same war.
