Well. The black panthers were pro-gun because their revolution depended on the people's side while Sandernists are anti-gun because their revolution depends on them being on the governments side. I think that's a good summarization of the ulterior motives of the two groups :p

No but the main European countries (Russia, France, Britain, and Germany) are definitely imperialist. To deny America taking European style imperialist thought from Europe is like denying that American culture is largely English based.

This is more correct, not as previously as "Europe" is indeed very vague. As for the US, it is not something that was brought from Europe, or the US taking "European style imperialist thought", the United States were like this since the very beginning.
And as for "European style imperialist thought" it is irrelevant, it is like saying Chinese imperialism does not exist, or will you say it was also brought from Europe? It does not originate form one continent in particular, imperialism is a notion that historically encompasses many cultures and people around the world.

Well using the reason to protect business interests to put military forces in area is definitely a European style imperialism strategy. The US used it against Spain, and a collection of Latin American countries. High tariffs to hurt other countries economies is another European strategy , taken by the US government.
