Droid version for phones only?

It seems the droid version is optimized for phones and not tablets. Opening on a tablet (I tested on 2 different ones with 2 sizes 7" and 9.7"), the app and content looks exactly like on a phone, everything magnified. Either I did something wrong or if not, this is not very appealing.

I have a game set up and ready to go. The only thing is I can not find the start button. The title is Emas's game of the USA. The delete game button is there and the change player/delete player button is there. Any ideas?

It should work fine on both. It tries to detect the size of your device and size things appropriately. Can you send me a screenshot of what you see to fizzer@warlight.net, and also include the name of the device? If things are appearing too big, I can adjust the algorithm that determines the size of elements.

By the time I saw this, I see your game has already started. Flash has a "Start game" button which is just a shortcut to removing the open seats/unjoined players in a game. In Unity, you can do the same thing, you just need to do it manually (click add/remove players, remove the open seats, and click submit)

the Message "Sorry, this AI took too long to execute, and has timed out. This AI can only be used on smaller maps, or simpler situations." is missing

Let's talk about this page. I think things are a bit in wrong order, so let's see what you'll think.





Right now it is

    Easy thing first, Instead of "Create Game' let it say Crate Multiplayer/Single Player Game. Think you can afford that space ;)

    More importantly, I want the list ordered in a more helpful way. If I was the boss it would be, like this.

    The Idee is to have the 'boxes' in an ordered fashion. (to em the current list feels arbitrary)
    First Templates, in unity this is super useful easy to use and by far the fastest way to make games. In the wast majority on unity games I made I started off with a template. Thus my list is based on the assumption that the user loads a template, kinda always. It also makes logical sense, as loading a template overrides all the other settings. Thus I want it even ahead odd GameInfo.

    I care more about the map then the players :P I think it would look better with Map above players, but I would agree that the Player box is more used.

    Player Tab is kinda high priority. Need to stop it from being so big if a lot of players through :/ Maybe say X Open seats? Instead of listing all. Or do as game description, which is scrollable (Fizzer, Please add a scrollbar to the Game Description box. I miss an easy way to scroll it. A way to expand the box to make nicer formatting would be nice too. (Thinking of Diplo/RP texts here)

    Boot is often changed after loading a template. Sometimes you want 3 min, sometimes 5 min.

    Distribution I don't know where I want tbh.

    Cards is often static to a template and really changed. However they are fun to experiment with.

    Armies. This might feel like I am under prioritizing it. Maybe I am, but this is where I want it.

    Open Seat Pre-Reg - There is not that many pre-req options in Unity. Is it perhaps possible to put this under the Player box? Players on the left, pre-req on the right.

    Mods are last. Not because they are least used. But because they are user-created and thus 'less' supported. Kinda for spezialy interested.

    Do you guys agree with me? Or is it time to hate :P For me the most important thing is to move Templates up. TBest - OUT

I definitely agree with TBest on this order:

Template needs to be #1 because if you change any of the settings that are currently before "template" (ie GameName/Info
Players,Map,,Boot,Card) then load a template, the settings you just changed are lost!

Also, the default template cannot be Earth - see my reasons here https://www.warlight.net/Forum/259621-petition-change-default-template-earth - so far no one has disagreed with me

Flash has an enforced 15 second timeout on all operations, which is why that message exists. This actually causes a lot of problems, since there are legitimate cases where sometimes players want to wait rather than having the game break (for example, if the AIs in a single player game take longer than this, then it breaks the game and the player can't proceed).

Unity has no such timeout, which is both good and bad. The good news is the game doesn't break anymore, the bad news is that if something gets into an infinite loop then you have no choice but to restart the app.

More importantly, I want the list ordered in a more helpful way.


I totally agree, it annoys me too. Template is kind of different from the rest, since it sets the rest.

The only reason it's where it is has to do with new players. I tried to put the least confusing things for new players higher up, so they can find it easier. Imagine a new player who doesn't understand WarLight or know how most of the settings work. They often just want to set the players (invite their friends), change the map, and hit go. Slightly more experienced players may also want to set the boot time. Slightly more experienced yet will change cards.

Having said that, I'm not sure that's even a strong enough reason to keep templates where it is.

Suddenly, space feels much more at a premium, right? :) Still, I don't think it needs to say Create Game twice at the top, so it could probably be done.

In my previous question I asked how to start a game. I could not find the start button. I did what you said and the game still will not start. There are only 8 players left. All declined and removed by host players have been removed. Still a no go.

I agree with your post Fizzer :) I would try to make some changes to the create game page now, then see how many complaints you get :P If it's not a lot then it was a good thing :D

Apple needs to verify each update you do which usually takes like 1 week so since it still is in development and like every week there is a new update to the client and Fizzer just doesn't want to deal with that. Else you as IOS player will send bug reports that might have already been fixed but you don't know about it yet because Apple is just taking so long for it to actually open up the update.
